Blank Pulmonary Artery Stenting

Pulmonary artery stenting is performed to widen narrowed segments of the pulmonary arteries, which carry blood from the heart to the lungs. This narrowing (pulmonary artery stenosis) can lead to restricted blood flow and increased strain on the heart.

Procedure:

  • A catheter is inserted into a blood vessel and guided to the pulmonary artery.
  • A balloon is used to expand the artery, followed by the placement of a stent to keep it open.
  • The stent ensures long-term improvement in blood flow to the lungs.

Benefits:

  • Reduces pressure on the heart and improves oxygen supply.
  • Avoids immediate open-heart surgery in many cases.
  • Helps in managing congenital heart diseases affecting the pulmonary arteries.
